Formerly Selous Safari Camp, is situated in its own secluded little part of the
Siwandu area of the game reserve. It’s about a 45 minute flight from Dar
es Salaam, right in the middle of a network of lakes and rivers that give it
a huge diversity of wildlife. The camp itself is split into two separate parts,
offering even more privacy for its guests; it also gives a group the opportunity
to take a whole side. The tents are all placed along the banks of the river
giving them tremendous views of the animals coming to drink, especially the
elephants that are frequent visitors to the area (mostly around supper time!).
The tents are large and spacious with an elegant design that takes you back
to the safari days of old. Everything about them is supremely comfortable
and makes for an incredible stay. The most authentic safari honeymoon in the
Many of the guides have spent years in the Selous Game Reserve and know
it like the back of their hand. They really are impressive be it on the water,
on land or setting up your tent under the stars. Over all our years in Tanzania
safari we’ve never heard a bad word about Siwandu and our own experiences
there have all been amazing.
Standards of guiding and wildlife expertise are hard to beat with many of the
guides having spent all their years in the Siwandu. Taking the opportunity to
fly-camp under the stars with the experts is extremely worthwhile. Typical
days involve a morning and an afternoon game activity; on foot, by boat, or
from an open sided vehicle, and for the anglers among you, a spot of fishing.
Not to mention that the twenty minute drive from the airstrip to the camp
seems to always muster an exciting introduction! As soon as you set down in
the Selous the adventure begins.
